Highway 101 is one of the main arteries of Silicon Valley, and a major route between Northern and Southern California. Eight lanes wide through Mountain View, for years it was a barrier to foot and bicycle travel. A tunnel now carries the Trail under the highway. | |

The Trail was built into an existing tunnel originally built for Stevens Creek. On rare occasions, usually in winter, this portion of the Trail is closed if the Creek water gets too high. | |
